Elaine Chan
Elaine was called to the Manitoba Bar in 2014 and joined Olschewski Davie as an Associate in
September 2023. Elaine practises in the areas of corporate commercial, commercial and
residential real estates, wills and estates and immigration.
Elaine was born and raised in Hong Kong and immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada with her family
in 2012. Elaine obtained her Bachelor of Laws and Postgraduate Certificate in Laws from the
University of Hong Kong in 2001 and 2002 respectively. In 2007, Elaine further obtained a
Master of (PRC) Laws from Renmin University of People’s Republic of China.
She was qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 2004 and remains as a practising member of
Law Society of Hong Kong to assist residents in Canada to deal with their matters in Hong
Kong and residents in Hong Kong to deal with their matters in Canada.
For years, Elaine has been advising clients including new immigrants and non – residents in
setting up businesses, commercial leasing requirement, corporate re – organization,
franchising and licensing, purchase and sale of business, real estates transactions and other
legal and notarization services that they may need in settling in or leaving Canada. Elaine is
fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin and happy to provide multilingual legal services to
address the need of the clients.
Elaine loves to give back to the society and is an active member in Chinese community and
others at large. Elaine serves as a Board Member to Hong Kong Canada Business
Association – Winnipeg Section and Board Member (Policy Committee) to Fort Garry
Women’s Resources Centre. She has been invited by different organizations, institutions and
others to provide seminar or training.
Elaine has also been recently appointed by Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education,
a program to assist law graduates to acquire necessary skills and knowledge in practising
laws, as a Course Reviewer in Business Laws. Elaine has a passion of travelling and when
work schedules do not allow time for travel, Elaine enjoys spending her quality time with family
and friends.
